Shane is a licensed Professional Engineer in both Illinois and Iowa. He graduated from Augustana College in 1991 with a BA in Physics and the University of Illinois in 1992 with a BS in Civil Engineering. Shane previously held a senior position with the Illinois Department of Transportation in the Peoria office with responsibilities in all phases of road and bridge improvements. His experience included managing construction of a $30 million bridge reconstruction project over the Illinois River, as well as, numerous expressway and freeway construction projects. He rose to the level of Bureau Chief at IDOT and managed the Operations Bureau for 12 counties throughout central Illinois. His responsibilities in this position included roadway maintenance, traffic engineering, landscaping, and bridge maintenance and inspection.

Shane brought his skills and experience to HEI in 2012. He has been instrumental in the continued growth of the firm. As the Peoria Office Manager he consistently delivers successful projects for our clients as well as leading our marketing efforts throughout central Illinois. During his career in private industry, he has successfully managed phase I, II and III projects for a wide range of clients including IDOT, counties, municipalities, school districts, sanitary districts levee districts, and private companies.

Throughout his career, Shane has displayed strong project management skills combined with an effective style of communication. These skills give him the ability to efficiently guide multifaceted projects while addressing varying stakeholder interests. He is widely respected for his ability to facilitate communication between all parties involved to ensure that the client expectations are met.
